Greetings-this is my first new thread in over 2 years! Anyway, has anyone here ever used the scheduled service from IGM to LAX? Did IGM have any prior service to other airports? And have the fares from IGM been very expensive? Thanks and cheers

I think Mesa had Beach 1900D service to PHX years back.

Hughes Airwest served IGM up until the early 1970s, along with a lot of other small airports.

By 1975 IGM was gone. Not sure when as can't find a route map between '72 and '75.

Interesting that RW didn't serve FLG though. I thought I recall it, but it's not on that map. Interesting they'd serve IGM and PRC, but not FLG.

I flew to LAS via IGM in 2010 on my way home. It was a last minute thing and the fare was relative cheap at $160.00. I was the only passenger on the B1900D that operated the service. I did have breakfast and lunch at the Airport Diner. It still exists to my knowledge.

I have to fly back to SBN next month for a wedding and th cheapest from kingman with two stops is $685. I live in bullhead city which is across the river from Laughlin but there is no scheduled service. The only other option is LAS.

Maybe Ryanair can start flights there and market it as "Las Vegas/Phoenix"

Flying from IGM would be a novel experience, but it will be neither cheap nor especially convenient. However that you're going to a somewhat smaller airport (SBN) makes it a notch more expensive and cumbersome than if you were going to a bigger place like Chciago or Dallas.

If you can make the flights work, Allegiant flies nonstops from LAS to SBN on Sunday and Thursday, and fares in May range from about $90 to about $199 each way depending on specific flight. Otherwise, you've a host of LAS-xxx-SBN flights which will run in the $400 range.

Mesa Airlines (YV) operated service as America West Express from Kingman in the 1990's utilizing Beechcraft 1900D aircraft. Often the flight was operated IGM-PRC-PHX as the inbound flight from Phoenix was non-stop into Kingman. I worked as an Operations Manager for America West Express in PHX and seem to recall that absent the Prescott portion of the flight(s) that loads were extremely light into Kingman.

Wasn't there a commuter who ran LAS-IGM for awhile too?

StatesWest operated several routes in Arizona including HII & IFP, this was also in the late 1980's early 90's...so perhaps they operated the route from IGM to LAS.

Great Lakes Airlines is the only airline which serve IGM currently. They have 12 flights a week to/from LAX and 7 flights a week to/from PRC.

If you really want to go back in time, Kingman was served by TAT, the forerunner of TWA.

And have the fares from IGM been very expensive?

Great Lakes' website has $86.50 each way for IGM-LAX on random days in June I just searched, and $75.50 for IGM-PRC on the same days

As some have indicated, since Great Lakes has been operating to IGM, they have current service to LAX and PRC. In the past, Lakes connected IGM to PHX and LAS as well. I also know Air Midwest used to operate PHX-PRC-IGM service in the early 2000s.

The town of Kingman is really nothing to write about, but the airport is a pretty substantial (and growing) graveyard. Its too bad the TWA L1011s no longer grace the perimeter of the airport!

Agreed. The most interesting thing there is the BNSF mainline with constant trains and the Hotel Brunswick on Route 66. FLG and PRC are far more scenic and interesting cities. Too bad QX didn't last long to those two places.

Golden Pacific flew Cessna 402s PHX-PRC-IGM-LAS in early 80s, then added Sedona also. Cochise did same before that. And perhaps Sun West did for a short time, too. I think they did ONT-Lake Havasu-PHX, so maybe not.

Not to hijack this thread, but what types are prevalent in the graveyard now? Any current pics?

I live in bullhead city so it's a little nicer than kingman . I hope to eventually get toward phoenixin the next few years. I'm tempted to try IGM-LAX-DEN-SBN on frontier but I don't think I'm that tempted to pay $700.

I used to take RW to Phx from LAS all the time and would take the F-27 LAS-IGM-PRC-PHX every chance I got over the DC9 non-stops. I mean, whats the fun in that? Another option was LAS-GCN-PHX also on the F-27. I loved taking every f-27 multi stopper I could find all over the west. Fun airplane and great windows for those interested in geology.

No, but they served Farmington,NM (FMN) for awhile as a bridge between DFW and LAS/LAX.

I remember these well. It was even better before they fenced them in . You could walk right up to a couple of them. Watching for snakes of corse.Don't forget the MD-90 prototype.
