According to http://nyc787.blogspot.co.uk/ Thomson will see deliveries of its 787's in June.

Great news for 787's in the UK, does anybody have any idea how long it will take TOM to get the 787'sinto service?

Great news - some lucky holiday makers will surely get a nice flight upgrade when going on their holidays.
Any rumours if THO will use them on shorter Med sectors before starting long-haul ?

Were there not some who booked and paid a supplement for these flights only to be dissapointed? Were they refunded the supplement?

Anyway good news that they can finally get airbourne and their travel shops can put those posters back up !

Yes, that's right. Wonder if Thomson will now demand the supplement back again !

Well I guess they could but it might be bad PR . Maybe better to wait a few months in case something else makes them unable to offer it. Nothing worse then promising something , charging for it and then not delivering.

As far as I'm aware, the contigency plan was only put in place for those travelling in May and June. Those travelling in July and August were being dealt with at a later stage, subject to news on whether the aircraft would be ready or not by then. They'll be used on short haul for 2 months prior to introduction in to long haul for crew familarisation. Great news at last, I can't wait to experience what they're like and see if the 787 lives up to all the hype.

The supplement was rather paltry I believe, about £20 per pax!

In which case, asking for it back would not be an option, unless they wish to completely alienate their customers.

Ive read somewhere that TOM only need two frames to operate the advertised 787 routes over the summer season, can't remember where or vouch for how accurate that is though.
If thats true, and they get them in June as planned, then Sept should look good for you

We booked for November when most of the programme is planned to run as 787, so really hoping we get to try one.

There has been discussion on other threads about whether BA will be operating training flights that will be open to the public for A380s and B787s - is there any likelihood that TOM will do the same for their 787s or will their first passenger services be on their regular holiday routes?

BA's Training A380 and B787 flights which carry any public passengers (Note that the Flight Deck training sectors to Manston and the like which will be empty of passengers) will just be BA regular routes. They wont be sold in any special way, some people will just rock up to their departure gate and get a nice surprise. BA may choose to advertise some of these nearer the time but they will just be regular bookable services. Its hard enough to manage bringing a new type of aircraft into service without adding the overhead of managing too many customer expectations.

BA may choose to have training flights with passengers before using them on proper services but expect these passengers to be staff volounteers.

Relative in a group of 8 seem to think shes getting an 787 from EDI-SFB in July, I didn't think it was likely as they weren't even scheduled in the first place to operate the few flights from EDI. Anyone confirm ?

The EDB flight was always advertised in the brochure as a 767, it was only, LGW, MAN, EMA, and GLA that were advertised as 787 flights this summer. Its quite clear in the brochures.
