This seems odd to me....one day notice for a "special investor update" webcast led by AS President Brad Tilden. Let the wild speculation begin!  http://finance.yahoo.com/news/alaska...up-webcast-investor-142500004.html

I would have to think this is a pretty significant announcement. I can't imagine such short notice to just go over how they are doing?

Maybe it's to outline their new fee changes?

I'm not happy with the increased first bag fee (or any bag fee), but I do like the fact that you can now make changes in the reservation with no penalty up to 60 days in advance now.

We are on the third post and haven't yet heard any words that start with the fourth letter in the alphabet.

(this was actually just announced today, but clearly not emergency investor meeting-worthy)

787 order for transcons and Hawaiian flights to better compete with HA and launch attack on Delta (there, I said it!). That's gotta be it.

(Or it could be an unexpected opportunity to expand the hub at PDX!    )

No, LAX-HNL flights to compete with Allegiant followed by BOI-HNL, GEG-HNL and FAT-HNL. They want to stop Allegiant from operating to Hawaii from anywhere.

launch attack on Delta

Four posts into an AS thread without a mention of DL and you had to go and ruin the attempt at a record.

Since you did, however...AS is going to cancel the MAX order, replace all 737s with NEOs and sell out to DL.

Just to get this out of the way - AS is going to purchase Delta, and the combined AA/US to become the worlds largest airline, and move the HQ to Bethel, AK.

Special investor update? Besides the merger everyone wants to speculate on, perhaps it's something more mundane for us but still substantial to investors, like initiating a dividend.

AS is announcing a massive nationwide expansion snapping up parked DC9s. Gee, wonder who they're buying them from??

Pilot's voted to ratify their tentative agreement for their union contract (which pretty much includes no scope). I guess tomorrow we find out where all 100 of SkyWest Inc.'s MRJs are going.... :-/

Maybe it has to do with the whole AS cancelling all non-DL int'l codeshares at SEA?

That would be welcome news to a lot of people, I'm sure!

(I still like my 787 idea, though.)

I like that too! Certainly more interesting than a dividend.

I'd forgotten that they were voting. That's a good guess.

Really, that is great! Kudos to them and AS. That will allow AS to expand as the market demands!

That would be great! I really want to fly on the MRJs (I'm a Pratt fan.)

Congrats, Alias! You're the smartest kid in the class! Nice to see AS and Alaska Air Group doing so well and having the confidence that they're going to be a profitable concern in the future. Cost to AAG will be $55 million per year...no small change. Coincidentally, the recently announced increase in bag/change fees will generate $50 million per year.

I'm glad they renewed their credit card deal. It just looks funny because the "Small" amount ($55 Million). Just used to seeing Chase/Citibank/Amex doling out Billions of dollars for frequent flyer programs.
