Topic: Easyjet Delays Flight For 86 Years!

Easyjet flight 8485 from GVA to LGW got delayed/cancelled for decades. The passengers got an email from Easyjet, including the apologies for the delay and inconveniences but also some shocking news that their next flight will be on 29/07/2099.

Of course this is an unfortunate mistake made by U2 and a computer glitch. I would have a big laugh, not sure if everybody else would.

Under EU laws regarding compensation for delayed flights, how much must the airline pay for an 86 year delay?

Hilarious! A few years back, I watched an episode of a BBC "mockumentary" comedy called 'Come fly with me' (filmed at Stansted) which follows the lives of staff of a fictional British airport and airlines. A check-in agent told the camera : 'We once had a man arrive a year late for his flight to Manchester. Fortunately for him, the flight was delayed so he ended up making it'

The passengers' funeral costs?    Sorry. That's sick.

Hahaha saw that as well. I'm sure many people wouldn't like such mistake and already threat to sue.

Smart move I would say...
As the European compensation regulation is based on the actual duration of the delay the passengers will have to wait until the 2099 departure to claim their cash. So the people first have to outlive the delay to be able to make a claim.

Maybe this is a good idea that MOL could implement at FR...

Or, more accurately - Easyjet computer glitch meant wrong date was shown for flight. Wow.

Well...the last flight I took was 5 hours late and I was compensated $100 for future air travel. From what I calculated here, if I were booked on this flight, I would be rewarded $15,067,200 towards airfare.

"Dear Valued Customer,

We at EasyJet regret the delay in your flight and are obliged to inform you by EU law that you are entitled financial compensation equivalent to more money than currently exists in the world...

Not if a passenger is a baby as of today!

Quoting CairnterriAIR (Reply 10):

I wish my flights could be delayed for that long! I would pay for college, flight lessons, then buy a medium-sized airline, or country!
