Nice, but what was it doing in VCE? Fuelstop would be too much South for a Russia - Iceland flight.

According to the press release, it was "customized" in VCE. I'm thinking interior?

Yes, SSJ's going out of the CIS countries get fitted out in Venice. Interior for sure, not sure about the paint job, but I think that is where that happens as well.
Aircraft bound for Russian and other CIS countries get outfitted at Aviastar in Ulyanovsk.

Ferry flights have better than normal range due to not having a full load of passengers, luggage and cargo. According to the Great Circle Mapper, VCE-KEF is 1852 miles, and the SSJ-100-95 has a range with a full load of 1894 miles. AirTran used to ferry their 717s from LGB to MCO, which is well beyond the max range for the 717 with a full load (But not enough range for HA to ferry theirs to HNL from LGB, which required ferry tanks.).

Trivia, three other airlines Kam, Air Bishkek and one other sport this livery style with own logos, two use orange and blue combo, one is red and gold.

Anyone know the remainder of the schedule? For the Washington stop and the San Antonio? I'm tempted to hop a WN flight or make the drive down tonight to KSAT to catch it tomorrow unless it's overnight.

Does anyone know what airport in Washington DC? I would assume IAD (although it would be cool to see a Russian built aircraft doing the river visual  ).

Also does anyone know when it's going to be in DC?

According to Interjet's chief SSJ100 pilot's twitter account (@dieguilin), they'll resume the ferry flights on Monday. So expect to see the SSJ at DC and San Antonio on that day.

Cheers

I must say...the pictures posted above are excellent. Some really nice air to air shots. I really like the interior...looks clean, roomy, and comfortable for an airliner of that size. With all the present setbacks that have happened to the SSJ program, one can hope that it..as well as the Boeing 787...can be shaken of their bugs quickly and they have a great service life. Honestly, I think the Superjet would work well within the fleets of several U.S. carriers.

I actually think that InterJet bought them exactly for U.S. flights. They are adding routes to the U.S. Tat is why they needed something less than A-319 and more than EMB-190.

I hope everything will be fine. Many bugs were fixed on 14 Aeroflot SSJ-100. And as I had predicted, SU started not to resume leases for A-319.

Assume you're not referring to Internet's large A320 fleet (39 aircraft). They have only 150 seats at 34" pitch, compared to the maximum certified 180 seats at 28/29" pitch as operated by many low-cost carriers.

Yes indeed, I was not fully clear. I was comparing to the typical A320 you would get in the US or EU. 34" are unheard of these days for US/EU carriers, short or long-haul.

It's not!

Thomsonfly e.g., the B787-8 in Economy Class operates at 34" pitch also. A brandnew aircraft, and it's a British charter.
Also Jet2, B737-800's with updated interior is definitely 34".

Actually I seem to remember they won't be flying them to the US. I think they'll use them for thin domestic destinations regardless of distance, seeing they don't currently have anything smaller than the A320. I can think on lots of routes that don't grant such a big airplane:

TLC-ZIH
TLC-ACA
TLC-PVR
TLC-SJD
MEX-ZCL
MEX-HUX
MEX-CME
MEX-CZM
MEX-CPE
MEX-VER
MEX-MTT
among others
While I don't think they'd use it for TIJ due to high loads, can the SSJ even make it there from MEX(7200ft)/TLC(8500ft) with a full load?

BTW. Is the SSJ even certified for operating in the US?

Perhaps on some shorter haul flights i.e., TLC-IAH, TLC-PHX? I mention IAH since AM flies the E90s there.
You make a good point regarding the SS9 being certified to fly to the US.

I'm pretty sure it is certified for U.S. flights. Recall reading somewhere it was. The delivery flight took place through the U.S....wouldn't that count? BDL-CUN a few times a week. Yes DL flies it weekly, but a low cost run would be nice!  Smile

U.S. flights will probably come later. Interjet just this month opened 6 new destinations in Mexico and two start tomorrow. I believe the SSJ100 will be jumping on those routes first.

New destinations 4O started in July

MEX-AGU
MEX-ZLO
MEX-MZT
MEX-TRC
MEX-CPE
MEX-MTT
MEX-REX

New destinations starting tomorrow August 1
MEX-ZCL
MEX-LAP

Non-U.S. carriers can fly to/from the U.S. since it's certified by the EASA, the EU equivalent of the FAA, but if a U.S. carrier wanted to operate it it would need FAA certification.

It will be interesting to see if at a rate of 1 per month will be delivered up to december.

If then, 5 more to go, for a total of 7 deliveries this year.

AIJ will reach +-48 frames by the end of 2013.
