Is American Connection still around? They are actually the former TW Express from the STL hub. When American dismantled the STL hub American Connection relocated to ORD. Did the name get renamed American Eagle?

Last I know of, they're still around, operated by RP, out of ORD.

Edited to add: just looked into it, and, apparently, AMR announced that they where binning Connection--has this happened yet?

"American Eagle" will be the new branding used for AA's regional flights, regardless of whether or not actually operated by American Eagle Airlines. Previously, American Eagle flights were branded as American Eagle and all others were American Connection.

Are there RP planes still sporting American Connection branding?

I have seen several American Connection-branded RP planes in GRR within the past month. I don't know what their reg numbers were.

I would take it no AC planes painted in the new scheme

It will take a while to get the American Connection planes repainted in the new American Eagle livery, but they are all going to be called American Eagle, operated by 'fill in the blank Airlines". However the SkyWest, ExpressJet and Republic (E175) planes already sport the American Eagle brand. The AMR subsidiary American Eagle will be renamed as something else to differentiate it from the to-be catch-all branding, but it's fleet is underway in the repainting process with the new American Eagle livery as with the non-AMR-owned affiliates.

AFAIK the only contracted out Eagle planes in the new colors are the 175s - the rest in new colors are MQ 145s and CR7s

You're correct. No Connection planes have been painted yet, but when they do they'll be Eagle branded. All Connection flights are operated by Chautauqua out of ORD.

I have a flight through Ohare next March on RP/CHQ and as of now my reservation shows it as "American Connection". Not sure when they plan to re-brand all as American Eagle.

I believe the unfortunate number of CR2 flights out of DFW are listed as Connection as well.

Do they have to wait on the FAA to approve the American Eagle dba on all the current American Connection carriers ops specs? That's the only hold up I can think of with a rebrand.

All the ExpressJet/SkyWest-operated CRJ flying done out of DFW/LAX for AA is marketed as "American Eagle operated by [ExpressJet/SkyWest]." The only flights in the AA system that carry the "Connection" brand are those operated with the 15 ERJ140s by Chautauqua out of ORD - but, as already mentioned, this brand is going to be phased out and eventually all regional flights operated on behalf of AA by all operators, including American Eagle Airlines, Inc. but also ExpressJet, SkyWest, Republic, etc. will be branded and marketed as American Eagle (as was the case from the origin of the Eagle brand in 1984 through AMR's acquisition/consolidation of its regional operators in 1998).
