One evening back in November 1997, I was at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and I saw a Southwest Airlines 737-300 parked on the tarmac. I thought it was rather odd to find it there. Does anyone who works for Southwest or lives in the Chattanooga Area remember this rare visitor? Could it have been a diversion? Or a charter? Thanks in advance for any info. It will put a 4-year old mystery to an end.

It was probably a charter. WN B737's have been to Des Moines and Ames, Iowa on sports charters before.

In that case, can someone tell me about the WN 737 in COS on August 19, 1998 or August 18, 1999(I think it was this)? It was the newest special scheme, just unveiled within the week before it was at COS.

Like Jason said, it was probably a charter. WN does a lot of military charters and a few sports. I can remember on several occassions seeing WN 733s @ DSM flying ANG charters or flying in either the Texas Tech or Baylor football teams to play ISU.

WN 737's can be seen quite frequently in Huntsville in the summertime, although they have no scheduled service here. They're chartered for the Space Camp kids. I think Delta works their ground ops.

Apparently, they have a pretty good charter network.

We do have alot of charters actually. I know we have a regular PIE (St.Petersburg) LAS service that is a charter. We get these tour companies that "use" our aircraft. Its operated with our crew but usually has an odd flight number. If a bag or something gets lost we do not handle those claims, its up to the tour operator.
