I have questions about UAL flight attendants based overseas. First of all, are these Americans or citizens of other countries. Secondly, lets say a FA was based at Frankfurt, would he/she fly routes like FRA-IAD, FRA-ORD? Or would they just stay primarily within Europe on routes like Amsterdam-London. Also, do they work with US based FA's? I know I said "a question". Boy I got carried away.

Yes. Some FAs are based overseas. I dont know about in FRA, but I know there are some UA FAs based at LHR. And, yes he/she would fly international and domestic routes. And, yes they would work with US FAs if that flight is arriving or departing in the US.

The foreign domiciles can comprise of both US and foreign citizens, but in most cases, the domicile is 99.9% foreign citizens.

UA's international domiciles are:
BKK, CDG, FRA, HKG, LHR, NRT, SCL, SIN, and TPE.
**SIN and BKK are the two "special domiciles" where the FA's based there are foreign nationals and cannot touch US soil (the country or its territories). The FA's in BKK and SIN also wear completely different uniforms from those FA's at any other domicile, both domestic (US) and foreign.

For some trips, the entire cabin crew can made up of overseas-based crews, as is the case with the SFO-CDG trip and all the Intra-Asia flights and all of the Intra-Europe flights. Some new flights coming online this year (DEN-LHR, LAX-CDG) will be comprised of only overseas-based crews.

The FAs based in SIN and BKK do have regular United uniforms: usually the skirt and jacket combination BUT their clothes are brown in color. I have been out sick for a few days so I haven't been able to check Newsreal, but it would be really great news if United got DEN-LHR nonstop. The777Man

So the uniforms look exactly like the Blue ones here in the US but are brown. Do you mean the white blouse has a brown "V" looking thing beneath the collar? Why is this? Also, do internationally based FA's fly within the US? Can the come from London to Dulles and then fly from Dulles to Orlando?

What flights by united are intra europe or intra asian flights? Can you give me specific flightnumbers? I know that BA, KL, SR also have some asian cabin crew on flights to asia. This is to serve the customer in his language. These flight attendants cant work on domestic european flights?

Hi Cody!!! I think the blouse is the same color, but I'm not sure. The reason for the different color is so that passengers will notice that it is not a US crew. The European and Latin American FAs cannot work on a flight within the US. The only intra-European flights are LHR-AMS and LHR-BRU which are continuations of flights into LHR. Intra-Asia flights are NRT-SEL, NRT-PEK, NRT-SHA, NRT-HKG, NRT-SIN, NRT-BKKand HKG-BKK until 14Feb then it will switchto HKG-SIN. NRT-BKK, NRT-SIN and HKG-BKK are the routes with special FAs. These flights LHR-AMS and LHR-BRU are operated by British Midland. Since europe has become sort of one country it is not anymore allowed for a us airline to operate intra europe flights (unfortunately!).

I have a question. Why is UA putting all foreign cabin crew on some international flights. European flight attendants have a higher salary. This wouldnt be a wise move.

LHR-AMS and LHR-BRU are indeed operated by United and NOT British Midland. As long as they don't pick up passengers in LHR for the flight then its legal. They are allowed to pick up "online" UA passengers who have broken their journey in LHR and who wish to continue on to BRU or AMS on UA.

Believe me, if it wasn't a wise move to use European crew, then they wouldn't be doing it. For sure those F/A's are paid less than their American counterparts with their high salaries and high levels of seniority.

When does this flight operate? I have trouble finding in on UA Connection? Who get's more european flight attendants or american fa? Do you have a specific UA intra asian flight flightnumber?
