Looking at the Air Canada timetable - and OAG.com - AC will start B744 service from YYC(Calgary) to LHR in April. I don't remember when YYC last had 747Pax service.

I know Calgary is getting bigger but not THAT fast lol!

AC flew daily summer 741's from YYC to LHR in 92.

So this summer there should be 3 daily AC 744s into LHR-YYZ,YYC,YVR!

I didnt know loads on the YYC-LHR were that big and heavy. The A340s and 767s I used to see that flew to LHR at many times took off using about half to 3/4th of the main runway.. about 7-8000 feet..

I wonder which 744 they will be using, the Ex CDn 475s or the AC 433s/COMBI..
Probably COMBI by my guess as YYC cargo is also growing at a rapid rate..

I'm surprised too. It'll be great to see the Air Canada 744's. We are also getting a second Cargolux 744 in weekly. LHR-YYC has been a 763 that has been upgraded to A340 during peak times. I wonder if a A340 to FRA is comming too?

Mark, I heard by the time the seasons start shaping up the A340 will return as the primary equipment for the FRa-YYC.
Do you know which day the second Cargolux will come in? Please let it be a DAYTIME or EVENING flight..

Ya i heard that too, and to believe that they were considering cancelling our european flights. Though I'm wondering if this upgrade might be at the expense of YEG. I thin Cargolux will be the same horrible time, on fridays though. I've heard rumours that YYC is closer to getting Asian cargo service.

I saw 2 Cargolux's on the same night (Monday)

One at 11:20pm, the other at 1:50am (tuesday really)

I think they turn around the 744 in less than 45 minutes. That was one of the reasons for serving YYC.

Yeah, well the one that arrives at 1:50am is outta there by like 3:00am.

I wonder if using the B744 will relegate YYC to only one LHR flight during the summer. The past few summers we have two daily flights to LHR (1-A340 at 18:00, 1-767 aroung 21:00).

The 747 service will only be from Apr 1 to May 31 then on June 1st it goes back to 2x Daily 767 service, The 747 will arrive into YYC at 150:5 and leave at 19:15
