Kind of riduculous considering that:

1) He has access to the cockpit anyway.
2) He also has access to a crash axe.

The rules are the rules....He should know better than the average traveller to remove his hunting weapons before going to the airport. I do hope, however, that the charges are dropped because it appears to be an honest mistake.

Well, if the charges should be dropped against this pilot because he made an honest mistake, then the same courtesy shoud apply to all non-pilots as well...and I doubt that will happen.

Rules are rules. He should pay the penalty.

Assuming that he does not have to serve jail time, but does have to pay the fine, would the fine be paid by the union or airline, or would he be responsible for paying the fine?

when will you freaks understand,just because the pilot has access to the cock pit doesnt mean he or she doesnt have to follow rules.

this stuff is getting old,they need to make an example of him,if it was a normal pax they would be arrested on the spot.

a county sheriff's wife carried a gun through security and FORGOT about it,it was tucked into her purse.she was charged and booked.same needs to be done here in this case.
