Swiss announced yesterday a new fare structure with the name Easy Swiss Saver! Sounds a little bit like EasyJet...Swiss will offer flights from Geneva to London, Paris, Barcelona and Nice for 79 Swiss francs.... These 4 destinations are destination served by EasyJet Switzerland.
In 1999, EasyJet won the first fight versus Swissair for the Barcelona route. Who will won the fight this year?

Looks like they lost quite a lot of pax on the 4 mentioned destinations.

Low Cost seems to be "in" anyway. BA, LH and other European carrier already mentioned such plans earlier.

I ike their slogan: "Just as easy, but even better..."

but I couldn't help laughing when reading this:

These super fares come combined with convenient conditions. For travel during the week a minimum stay of two nights is required. Weekend travel requires a Saturday-to-Sunday overnight stay. Flights must be booked 14 to 28 days before departure. Maximum stay is 10 days. Offer valid as long as seats are available.

Uuhh, Swiss seems to be in danger!!!They will give the full service to the passengers for such a small price....I always thougt that Swiss is trying to be a premium full service carrier (in fact the TV spots suggest this) and now they start the battle with the LCC's. Aren't there too much battle fields for Swiss (troubles with the pilots, Alliance question etc.)? I know a lot of business tavellers with 20 and more flights a year on Swiss and they are very angry how Swiss is doing....
I really hope to hear some good news of Swiss.

Have you ever tried to find a cheap mid-week flight to a European destination ex Switzerland? As far as I know only KLM had some special deals to spend a few mid-week days not combined with a weekend. If you book with Easy Jet one day before departure the chance to get a cheap flight is very little as well, isn't it?

But in one thing I have to agree: I also like their slogan: "Just as easy, but even better..."

I don't call this low-cost, what SWISS is doing. I somehow got the impression, they want to fill up better their aircraft, and that's it. The second reason in my opinion is to make life a bit more miserable for EZY, where the first EZY few A319 will be based.

As long as the added revenue is higher than the additional costs, it works out. Or am I wrong?

BTW: I hope they start the same out of ZRH one day  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Gerardo

Swissgabe:
If Easyjet Switzerland uses the same Terms & Conditions and modus operandi as Easyjet UK, then basically the statement above is a joke. Because
a) Mid-Week flights are cheapest on Easyjet anyway
b) there are no minimum stays or any other conditions at all on Easyjet.

So "convenient" terms & conditions of 2 night minimum stay and a maximum stay of 10 days.... pah!

Besides, if you book Easyjet 1 day before departure then that's your own fault... and the Swiss Easy Fares are only available 14-28 days prior to flight, so I don't see your point...

Well, Swiss is just doing the same as BA and LH - offering some empty capacity at lower fares.

Wonder what's happen if LH introduced a set of offers called "Ryan Fares"  Big grin - or maybe a slogan like "Reihenweise kleine Preise" - which sounds a lot like Ryan....  Big grin
