if 767 transpacific

What would everyone think of an airline operating the 767 across the pacific? It has the range for something like LAX-NRT and it is already operated on routes that are almost as long, like Delta's JFK-IST(Istanbul). Now that we have the 777 on pacific routes the idea of a smaller twin like the 767 taking them is not that weird.

think your right, more airlines should fly the B767
across the Pacific. Air Pacific Air New Zeland Qantas
use their 767 on short routes. I guess money is the
big issue!

767s have already been used across the pacific, I think AA and Canadian have done that in the north pacific and also Air New Zealand has used the 767 to LAX, correct me if I'm wrong.

The furthest Qantas uses its 763's from Australia are BOM, SHA, PPT. SYD SHA for example is a non stop sector of 9.5 to 10 hours. Also a sector of similar length is PER NRT non stop also about 10 hours. They have been used in the past from CNS in northern Australia to HNL then on to LAX.

Asiana uses it's 767-300ER's between Seoul, and Sydney. To SYD is 10.3 hrs, and to Seoul is 10.6 hrs, at least thats how long my flights were.

I think AA used to use a 767-300ER on the SEA-NRT run.....now it's an MD-11.

I think its more of a question on the number of passengers the aircraft can carry and the amount of cargo. The 767 may be able to fly those routes but not as profitable as the 747 or in some cases 777.

Canada 3000 uses 757 from canada to Sydney. Of course they stop in Hawai . fidji, and new-zealand I think.

I can't think of any 767 operators that go transpacific through ANC. The only 767's we see on a regular basis up there is Delta and those are in-country only. UA also used to send 767's up there but that was a couple of years ago. Now they run a DC-10.

If somebody gave me a 767 I wouldn't mind running a Anchorage-Japan run. Or if the numbers where there a ANC-HNL run.

I think it would be an ideal choice to smaller asian cities. The -300 would carry more people. Larger aircraft are needed to travel to the hubs so people can connect to other flights.

The increased use of twins like 767, 777 and A330-200 on long routes, will probably drop the A3XX.
