I got this interesting response from my Congresswoman, when I wrote to discuss issues of privacy with the TSA, as well as the problem of making the public want to fly, and United.

Dear Neil:

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the
Transportation Security Administration. I appreciate the opportunity to
learn your views and to share mine.

While I supported the creation of the Transportation Security
Administration, I share your concerns about protecting the privacy of the
flying public. The "Aviation and Transportation Security Act" was signed
into law by President George W. Bush November 10, 2001 (P.L. 107-71).
This law created the Transportation Security Administration and gave its
federal screeners the authority to search all checked and carry-on
luggage. It is possible that this authority will be challenged
successfully in the courts. In the meantime, I expect that the process of
how passengers' bags are screened will improve as the federal screeners
gain experience.

I am also very concerned about United Airlines' current financial
situation and I realize that the company's continued solvency is critical
to Denver's economy. That is why I have consistently urged the ATSB to
support United Airlines' loan request. Most recently, I joined a number
of my colleagues in sending a letter to the ATSB condemning the agency's
December 4th decision to deny United Airlines' loan request. I agree that
we need to encourage the public to continue traveling. I will continue to
monitor the situation and do what is in my power to affect a positive
outcome.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact me about this important
issue. I look forward to our continued communication.

Sincerely,

Diana DeGette
Member of Congress

Other than a couple unnecessary usages of the word "that," I think it's a nice letter.

Thanks for posting that letter Gigneil. Very nice letter.

I wish there were more people like her.

Thank Darwin. . .for a Dem?

I think I'll leave that topic alone. At least the "Dem" is proactive with the UAL situation.

DIA-

Heh, yeah, us queers don't care for the Republicans very much.

Also, I sorta enjoyed the 8 years of unprecedented economic growth.

Yeah, looks like those eight years left us in a fine spot. . .thanks.

And, excuse me, I said nothing about your sexual preference.

Hey I didn't say you did. I was indicating a primary factor in my political motivations.

Yes, our new leaders took an amazing economy, and crashed it with months of political uncertainty while Bush urged the Supreme Court made illegal rulings about vote counts.

Anyway...

Hey, I'm not starting anything here. . .politics are politics and we ALL have our personal opinions and political reasonings.

This is why I said, "I think I'll leave that topic alone." Yes, I said it in an underlying sarcastic way. In any case, if I offended you, I didn't mean too.

Nope, I'm unoffendable.

I didn't mean to imply you were bothering me at all... I enjoy a healthy political debate. Perhaps better kept off-line, however.

Carry on as you were.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
