Many of you will probably already have seen most of the "new" episodes of the BBC program "Airport". With "new" i mean the episodes that are recorded after 9/11.
Here in Norway those new episodes satrted three weeks ago, with one episode each sunday, so i guess there is some more to come.
From what i have seen in the two first episodes, compared to those dating from before 9/11 much have changed. Thay are much more intrested in showing the security people, and follow the police's hunt for suspicious people. Thaer are not many minutes with sceenes from gate areas or onboard aircrafts. Neither are any crew members in focus.
So, offcourse i'm not interrested in knowing what the next 20 episodes is about, but it would be interesting to know if they only will focus on security, police work, and the fight against terrorists.
From what i have seen to now, the old episodes were many times more intersting.

AIRLINERS.NET CREW PHOTO SCREENER
Yes, I agree . . . after 9-11, they focus more on security.

Might anyone know when these new episodes will begin being shown on the Discovery Wings Channel, here in the US?

The first few after 9/11 maybe focused more on security, but the very latest ones (not long started a new series on BBC) seem to be better.
There are a few onboard the aircraft now, they were even following the Icelandair steward while the President of Iceland was onboard, so seems they are back to normal.

The new episodes started Wednesday here in Denmark. I don't hope the will focus too much on security and immigration police. I think that in the episodes from before 9/11 there was too much about immigration. As if they were trying to tell foreign people in UK that they should not try to get people from their home country to the UK!?
What about showing more from the tower or the cockpit? I don't remind that I have seen a landing from the cockpit yet, which would be great and give people a view of Heathrow from the air.

I think that the episodes at the start of the new series focused too much on issues not directly connected to the Airport, like following a man to hospital and the police to a refugee's house. However, lately the series seem's to have improved. The items following Maria and Cyprus Airways being very good as are the items regarding Qantas and Icelandair.

I do agree that the episodes are not as good, but it's still better than 'Airline'. The storylines are always the same (someone forgets their passport when there supposed to be at a wedding etc..).

I think the current series in the UK is excellent. Not only do we have the lovely Maria of Cyprus AW, but there have been other airports featured too, such as Keflavik (see above re Icelandic President), Larnaca (again briefly, to do with a sick person flying back) and Prague, which even featured the Japanese Government Jumbo's!
True, these are only fleeting glimpses of these places, but its a welcome departure.
We quite often get celebrities on it - nice to see Kylie, but I thought the 'appearance' of Tom Jones was very contrived. The night that episode was broadcast in the UK, I had him plugging his record on the radio on the way home, and then later on BBC News 24.
