One year ago Mekong Airlines intended to operate some MD82 aircrafts and later they changed to AT4 and 320. Now they even loaded 735 in the CRS. They have a lot of flights loaded ex PNH and REP to several destinations within South East Asia.
Mekong Airlines didn't start services so far and I even heard that they gave up their project.
Now I have a few questions and I would be glad if there is anyone out there who could answer them:
Why did M8 load all flights in the CRS already one year ago. If you book them they remain PN and they are even not being cxld. Don't they have to pay a lot for the CRS bookings?
Who was behind this? I know some Australian business guy but I also heard that Hainan Airlines could be behind that.
Does anyone have contact details to anyone related to Mekong Airlines?
More details and/or plans of the airline?
What has been the problem? Why didn't they operate so far and why would they have to give up? Financial problems?
txs a lot

Mekong Airlines plans to start operations tomorrow (Jan15th). They are aiming for a 90% load factor with a 737-500 configured with 10 first class and 94 economy class seats. They plan to expand operations with larger Airbus aircraft to China and Japan at a later date.
Not sure of other schedules, but Hong Kong is as follows:
M8 401 PNH 1050-1600 HKG via Siem Reap
M8 402 HKG 1700-2000 PNH via Siem Reap
They originally said they wanted to operate with an A320 and for a while their flights did appear on the screens here in Hong Kong, but the flight never turned up. I guess we will have to wait and see, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've a friend who works in M8 here in Hong Kong and she told me that everything is still on hold but flights will be launched ASAP due to the fact that tours have been booked on those flights. Not sure if the flight will be on scheldue yet however. Here's the website for Mekong Airlines here in HKG for those interested.
