With LAN established in Peru and talk of it setting up in Ecuador (is this still the plan), is it intended that they will set up a tri-national airline, operating within Chile/Peru/Ecuador? Does it stop there?
JPV reports today that LAN is looking at Japan - presumably this will be on A340s via LAX?
Also, what's Santiago like as an airport? Nice traffic, as far as I can see, but is there any nice place to watch the aircraft - inside the terminal, around perimeter or observation deck?

As Chile has openskies with the US, LAX-Japan should not be a problem.
I have only been to Santiago only once--about 1997. At that time there was plenty of space, both indoors and out to spot.
