ANZ Increase Flights For AKL-LAX

Followed by the departure of United Airlines on AKL-LAX, Air New Zealand has decided to increase it's double daily AKL-LAX flight to 17x weekly flight from April 30.

ANZ was told to maintain it's double daily flight in 2003. The double daily flight was introduced in November 2002.

For NZ it is about 6700 weekly after these flights are added! For QF close to 4000 once they add more flights in August! So over 10000 seats a week by my maths! That sounds heaps.

There were rumours that ANZ was thinking of getting rid of First Class and upgrading Business Class on this route... can anyone confirm or deny this....?

NZ's schedule as of April..

17x weekly 744 flights @ 392 seats per flight = 6664 seats
07x weekly 763 flights @ 234 seats per flight = 1638 seats

Total of 8302 seats (and some weeks the 744 is subbing for some 763 flights).

That's a LOT of seats!
