After the modernization process what will LGB Look like? Will they demolish the old terminal building, or will they just expand the boarding area? Will they add jetways (similar to the layout of chicago midway's southwest concourse)? Will they add more gates? I personally think that they should get rid of the terminal and start from scratch. The airport is so dead. Does anybody have pictures or blueprints of what the final poduct would look like?

Good question!

One thing is for sure it is going to Jet Blue Airways heaven.

Hoepfully Horizon Air or Alaska Airlines will get more flights to Long Beach too.

The old terminal will stay. The expansions will be placed to the side and behind.

lbreport.com has been tracking LGB with lots of discussion of the expansion and other issues at http://www.lbreport.com/airport/airport.htm

They've posted the proposed improvement drawings on their site.

LGB also updated their traffic reports through Oct 2002. Year to date passenger figures were up 125% versus the first 10 months of 2001.

I think they should add jetways (similar to the layout of chicago midway's southwest concourse), where u walk up stairs to the jetway of your plane. That will end the confusion of some people wondering which plane to go on.
