Can anyone tell me how I can find out which were the 5 largest regional carriers in the US for 2002? I looked at raa.org but was not a member there, so there was little information available.
I am having a discussion with a friend, he says SkyWest is the largest regional in the US, while I say they are more like 4th. My list is 1-Comair 2-American Eagle 3-ASA and SkyWest-4. I think he is mixed up by the fact that SkyWest may be the largest independatly owned regional, but I need more facts.
Anyone-please help!

This was discussed last month at a.net.

I think we used fleet size as the measure.

You can also log onto ain.com which is the online version of aviation international news. They rank the largest U.S. regionals every quarter. I believe they go something like

1. American Eagle
2. Continental Express
3. Skywest
4. Atlantic Southeast
5. Comair
6. Mesaba
7. Mesa Air Group

Not sure past #3 but I know where my airline stands and it is definately #2
