For the last few days, There has been a Ex-TWA 717 at one of the paint shops down at MIA.
It's TWA colors are being removed, does any one know who this might be going to?

I was thinking it might be going to AirTran, but aren't their aircraft painted at ATL.

Do you know the "N" number? Did AirTran get the early-build TWA planes or the last ones? Thanks.TC

Where is it at at MIA? I am going to try to get a ramp pass from a friend that works on the new runway project over there and get some pics.

It is at the paintshop on the north side of the field. Between the large Avborne hanger and the Airborn Express ramp.

I saw the aircraft around 4:30 and all but the rudder is striped down to its primer.

Yes, the two 717s at MIA are going to AirTran as are the other 19 remaining 717s in storage at (VCV) Victorville, CA.

It has also been reported that AirTran is in talks with Bahamasair to sub-lease them 2-4 717s replacing the 737-200s currently in operation......stay tuned.

Of the 30 ex-TW/AA 717's, they have all been placed as follows:

22 AirTran
6 QantasLink
2 Bangkok Airways

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Well, at least all 30 birds have found new homes now. I don't think there are any other 717s left in storage anywhere. Now if only NW & LH will order some, and QF to order some more, the 717 may have a bright future after all. Didn't I say it before...that the 717 is a "sleeper hit"?  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

23 are going to AirTran, we have two flying right now, N422TW and N2417F.
There are two more in MIA being converted and they should be flying two more in shortly.

Gonna be common sight in MIA before too long.

BTW, Avborne is converting them.
