I kind of wish they had reserved that very classy and elegant colorscheme for the 747 (which are commonly reffred to as the AF1) and gave the rest of the fleet, particularly the smaller planes, a more simple plain livery. Maybe just a grey body with a US flag at the nose or on the tail or something.

The 747 commonly reffered to as AF1 should be distinct because it is the president's plane.

TWAneedsnohelp .... Air Force One can also be a BBJ ... it refers to whatever Air Force aircraft the President happens to be on board .. 747 to Cessna ...
When he's on board a Marine helicopter, that ship is Marine One.
BTW, there are two 747's ..

When will this plane be used? I thought they had a "MD-80 lookalike" for airports that can't receive a 747.

BR715-A1-30,

Why do you scream ? Big grin We know that USAF VIP 747 are called VC-25.

SK A340,

According to Scramble.nl site, it will be operated by 65th AS/15th ABW, Hickam AFB, PACAF. I don't think it will be a presidential plane.
The President fly with VC-32 (757-200) for example, when the airport can't receive the VC-25.

SK A340, the a/c is a VC-9, and is essentially a DC-9 (not the MD-80 kind).  Smile
