OK, on the ground now....still smiling!  Smile  Smile It was a great experience, I am glad I got the chance to do it!

Connexion is a great product.

With the way developments are going hopefully one day (soon) we can have a few users on different airlines sending messages at the same time!

As Boeing says: Forever New Frontiers!  Big grin

Hi Desert dweller.......Lufthansa has on board internet trials at the moment on their Frankfurt-Washington service. British Airways starts on board internet trials from February 18 on one of our daily Heathrow-JFK rotations. This will be in Club World and there is a flat charge (i think) of US$30 for unlimited access on the entire flight.

Further trials are scheduled by JAL and SAS later this year.

Guess where I am right now...I am on the moon. Its great up here guys, NASA is piloting Connexion for the shuttle and I am the first person to post on A.net from the moon! Yipee!

Britair...although i would certainly be inclined to believe your claim if you had some proof, I have definitely learned that not all posts on A.net are truely accurate.

twalives-

Heh, yeah its so unbelievable that an employee of an airline that's planning to deploy the product in question - that exists today - in short order would be invited aboard for a demonstration and possibly some training?

Uhm, yeah, exactly.

Thanks,

Hi JC, well before I answer I must warn you I am completely lost when it comes to the technicality of internet connections (- i know words like modem, broadband, ISP but that's about it!!  Smile However, I did try to listen and understand whe they explained the systems on board the aircraft. They did say that seats on one side of the aisle were wireless and the seats on the other side were cable. But as for knowing what exactly that meant, I have to confess I was lost!  Smile So, in answer to your question: it was both!

Hope that makes sense!  Smile

Was your laptop hooked to the seat via cable? Where on the laptop was the cable plugged in (USB, Ethernet connector)?

Hiya JC, Yes it was plugged in via a cable, and it plugged in the back of the laptop in the plug that takes phone line type plugs!  Smile (sorry, I feel really dumb!)  Big grin

25 JumboClassic : OK, so it's Ethernet. I wish it was wireless (Wi-Fi), but maybe they don't want radio signals messing up with the communication equipment in the cockp
26 Gigneil : JC- Lufthansa is launching the Connexion service with 802.11b Wi-Fi available throughout the plane. They have have cards available for rent. I do not
