I just posted this link on the Photographers forum, I thought that I would post it here as well.

http://www.petitiononline.com/saveiah

So if you are at all interested in help saving that wonderful pastime known as spotting from becoming an outlawed activity at another US airport, I would strongly encouraged all to sign this petition. With your help we may be able to save IAH's last observation area (Rankin Rd) as well as bring back the recently closed Lee Rd area.

Thanks,

Thomas

You make it sound like spotting is some sort of tax payer's right.
It's not.

The petition is trite and petty.

Good luck, anyway.

Just for curiosity's sake... what do you consider "trite and petty" about the petition?

I will tell you that it is a taxpayer's right to voice approval/disapproval at our public servants actions and I believe this what this petition is trying to accomplish.

Hey Greg, go read the Constitution.

It reads like a personal plea.
It won't convince anyone.
And the whole subject of being on public property.......(don't even get me started).

To others...if you don't understand trite and petty....look them up.

With all due respect Greg, regardless of how 'trite and petty' it may appear to you, the success of a very similar petition lead to the re-opening of the park at FLL. With his permission much of this petition is borrowed from that now famous and successful petition authored by Don Boyd.

I expected at least one nay-sayer from this forum. Oh well if anything you have certainly spiced this thread up a little bit. Frankly, there is nothing like a little disagreement in the family to make things interesting.

So, any chances that you might consent to laying down your 'John Hancock........ on our 'trite and petty' petition?

Is there anything wrong with posting again, so it goes back to the top and people see? Like I am doing now, tehehehe.

I live in Waco and do the drive to IAH (3hrs) on those days when I feel like some good music, a short road trip and some serious planes watching (though I cant get down there as often as I like). That trip wouldn't be the same with-out that great Lee Rd spot.
