Well, due to the Hajj, which in reality is a MASSIVE transportation event I think PIA opt for seats/commonality rather that fuelefficency. Also the lease period is very short - typically only the duration of the hajj, transport forth and back. This particular A300 has singleconfiguration layout and holds 309 pax seats.

309 in all-Y isn't surprising, I think AA gets 251 in a 2 class machine with MRTC.

Figure 31" gets you 3 more rows in coach, so add 24 seats: 251+24=275
The yank the F seats out and you get at two more rows of eight plus the extra eight seats yields 16 more, so 275+24=299.

So 309 is tight but not totally wildly insane, especially if they pull some of the closet space for the now non-existant F class.

Heck A300s b4 are certified up to 345 and 600R's 361. The Monarch 600r I was in wasnt bad at all and it was near full.

Sorry to say, but come-on man!

There is a reason for why Aircrafts are retired. Maybe more so with PIA the retirements are due to ACs are non-fly worthy anylonger. So U cant be serious about sending haj'is on sub-standard aircrafts.

And because the Hajj push is only for a short period every year, PIA leases the xtra aircrafts needed for the special trafic. As opposed to have overcapacity all year round if they bought more crafts.
