The aircraft was originally ordered by Olympic Airways, but the order was cancelled and it initially went into service with Aloha after delivery in September 1977. In April 1982 the aircraft was leased to Nigeria Airways for 12 months, the lease ended on April 14, 1983.

The aircraft went on to serve with Western Airlines, and was delivered to them in May 1983.

Given the date of the photo it looks like that aircraft was repainted into Western colours and had maintenance done by Britannia or Monarch at Luton, before crossing the Atlantic to enter Western service. The aircraft is now with WestJet as C-GGWJ
