It looks like Air Koryo (North Korean National carrier, former Chosonminhang/Korean Airways) added a new destination to it's network beside PEK, BKK, MFM, SHE and VVO.

FNJ-KHV JS253 on day 1/5 DEP 0950 - ARR 1300 Equ Tu3
KHV-FNJ JS254 on day 1/5 DEP 1500 - ARR 1610 Equ Tu3

Yes, but their marketing is rather poor. They should have special introductory fares, something on their internet sights, maybe a double points special on their Frequent Flyer scheme ("Kimpoints")

Well, is Air Koryo the only viable way to travel between the two cities? In a place such as Pyongyang, I don't think Air Koryo needs any publicity. By the way, I haven't talked to any non-aviation-enthusiast who knows the existence of Air Koryo.

They mainly fly IL-62, TU-134 and AN-24
would be lovley to see such nice bird with PTV, but actually it would kill the sex appeal of them....

The only 'veteran' plane i saw with PTV was an 727-200 of Qatar Airways (back in 1998), all seats in all clases did have PTV's!

In fact Pyongyang isn't an ugly city at all. It was quite busy and of course you have a lot of different monuments etc. I liked it ...

During Winter time Air Koryo is the only carrier which brings you regularly into the DPRK. In Summer you might have a few Chinese carriers flying as well from Beijing to Pyongyang with a stop between.

Just would like to add the Tu154 to your list. Il76 are mainly (or only) for cargo flights. Thats it ...

Well Hkgspotter1, the flights are loaded in the system but I'm pretty sure Air Koryo will do what other airlines also do. If there is no demand they just cancel the flight. Flights to MFM should be operated on day 5, BKK on day 4.

I hope they get new planes like the IL96 or Tu-204. A modified 'SWISS' style livery with big flag on tail and no cheatline would also be good for them.

An Air Koryo operating Airbuses would be cool as well. But I don't seem them to buy new aircrafts very soon.

Btw, FNJ-KHV seems to be very long route for a Tupolev 134, isn't it?

FNJ-KHV is more than fine for a TU-134, it is 806 Miles.

i also don't think that they will fly new planes soon. They have a way bigger fleet that their network needs. Even if they retire some ols A-24 and TU-134, they will still have enough capacity to support the rather thin network. The only issue that might become a problem is airport and country regulations for noise..etc. But in Asia it is still in good hands (Thanks god!)
