Are the F-15s and F-16s patrolling the skies again with the Code Orange Alert?
I was seeing the U shaped contrails over Detroit again today like I was shortly after 9-11. I didnt see the jets this time making them like I did then which were F-16s doing patrols, but I did see a couple of contrails appearing in the same locations that they did last time.
I didn't see this though on the last code orange on Sept 11- 2002

We have been flying Op Noble Eagle missions nearly daily even at lower threat levels, since the Morning of Spet 11, nonstop.
So certain cities and areas will continue to get fighter, AWACS, and tanker coverage on occasion, though often specifics will not be broadcast.
We even had an E-3 crew diverted Op Noble last Saturday for about 6 hours, to help with shuttle debris cleanup, watching the a/c and airspace over east Texas. News archives in OKC can give you more info if interested.

Yeah but that's different, they probably aren't doing patrols. You have Patrick Air Force Base nearby there and they are probably doing practices.
Well before 9-11, during the mid 90s I used to go to spring break in Panama City Beach Florida, and every day there would be pairs of F-15s flying by all the time from Tyndall AFB and we would see F-18s from Pensacola over 90 miles away.

Air Patrols are so silly. Its a waste of tax dollars. All we need are fighters on alert at a locarl airport that can "scramble" quickly to the desired area. Thos fighters ain't got afterburners for nothing!
