Having flow on SQ 747-400, A310-300, A340-300 and B777-200, I am now going on a trip to Singapore from Copenhagen. This time it will be on a B777-200ER.

Is there any different in seat pitch on B777-200 (31") and B777-200ER

If I am not mistaken, the 777-200 has 32" pitch while the ER has 33"..

Well Tsentsan, tell him why all the SRx and SQx are also ERs..  Nuts

Megatop, in fact, all SQ's B772s are ERs just that they dont all have the RR Trent 892 with the highest rating. And I believe some other differences inside but that you need to consult Tsentsan or any other 777 expert  Big grin

Megatop, the seats on the 777s that ply the SIN-CPH route (9v-SV* - henceforth called 772ER) are slightly more "elaborate" than those plying the regional destinations (9V-SR*,9V-SQ*). Y Class Seat pitch on the 772ERs is slightly better (supposedly 33'), and you get little extras such as lumbar support as well as lap cushions that inflate and deflate for enhanced comfort. Other than these 2 little differences, the seats function in the same way as the shorter range 772s.

Oh, lets not forget the 772ERs have AVOD installed, and they are a priceless for a 13hr flight.

True that all SQ 772s are IGW models... however only the 9V-SV* utilize the Trent892 (along with all of the -300As). All others utilize the Trent884.

I'm not too sure about the exact figures, but I find the seat width on the 772ER very generous. Although the seat pitch is 33', I seem to find the seats a whole lot more comfortable to sleep in than MAS' 744.

Rupertvander, from reading most of your posts, you always seem to like to diss Malaysia Airlines huh?

Well in fact, MAS' B777s have one of the most generous seat pitches offed amongst other airlines while their B744 is not too far off too, which i believe is 33' on most seats...

I don't like to diss MAS, it's the truth.

I seriously couldn't sleep at all on the MAS flight, the seats were built terribly.

Before another battle of "who is the best" starts, I would like to request some members to take your MH vs SQ fight elsewhere.

Perhaps SQ and MH or even CX supporters should stop getting so sensitive and defensive everytime their perceived rival carriers get complimented or mentioned.

If you want to share your discussions and thoughts on the net, you should start by trying to sound intelligent and not go all childish (I strongly believe teenagers ARE capable of showing a higher level of maturity and intelligence).

Despite what my username says, I am not a fanatic supporter of any airline.

Airbus Lover: My apologies if I sounded as if I sounded as if I dissed MAS, in fact, I just wanted to mention the seat comfort level between the two carriers, where MAS likes to promote their seats as having one of the largest seat pitch in economy in the world, but to me, it's not very comfortable to sleep in!

Then why always bring MH into an SQ discussion and vice versa?
I'm not saying that you aren't entitled to your opinions, but the way that you compare the two in any MH or SQ discussion is like you are jumping at the opportunity to put down MH in favour of SQ.

On the topic, i think SQ has a seat pitch of 32" in Economy. First is 78" and 52" in Business.

MAS A330(-200) Woooo!

Mas a330,

SQ seat pitch is 32" in Y for most of the aircrafts, but 33" for seat pitch in the SV*series. As for the rest of the seat pitch that you gave above, only partially correct - fact is, different aircraft types/configurations have different seat pitch in P/J.

No offence intended, but perhaps you might want to stick to providing others with information on the airline that you know best - MH (same applies for SQ fans)... and leave it to people with significantly better knowledge of the SQ product to answer to Megatop's query. Don't want to mislead others, do we?  Big grin

BTW, will MH's newly delivered A330s have PTV in all classes??

And i do not think MH new 332s have PTVs.

Actually the first new A332 (9M-MKX) that arrived (second will arrive soon) is a 2 class cabin config. ALL CLASSES will feature PTVs. The first flight of the MH operated A332 will see it fly KUL-KCH and KUL-BKI and v.v. and those flights wont have their PTVs switched on.

Very soon (not mentioning dates) the A332 of MH will also fly to SIN on a regular basis on the shuttle route but no PTVs.

When they are destined for routes to Indian or China the PTVs will work then. The interiors of the 3 A332s is very alike to ex-SN. Only minimal changes will be done since those planes are only on lease for 3 years with 1 year option each.

A little OT maybe,

SQ's spacebed has a pitch of about 58 inches. (I just got off one 25 minutes ago, so it's pretty fresh in my mind). What is slightly misleading is that people are quoting 70+ inches for the length of the bed it forms. Both statements are actually true. The bed slides under the seat in front of you, so yes, the bed is 70 odd inches long, and pitch is about 58 inches. The old ultimo seats had 52 inches. Mind you, a lot of the pitch on the spacebed is taken up by the cocoon so unless you've got an aisle or exit row seat, getting up and out requires the dexterity of a gymnast. Just my 2 sen.

60 feet, wow! Big grin

Airbus Lover: thanks for that piece of information! When you say they are flying shuttle services to SIN with no PTV, do you mean it won't be switched on or none at all?

Domestic and shuttle flights they won't switch on their PTVs. I think basically on short flight they won't be offered.. but kind of strange, KUL-BKI is well 2+ or nearly 3 hours flight? Well, they will be flown to Indian where they WILL be switched on.
