anyone know what routes these are intended for ?
are they starting a regional arm ?

haven't heard anything about this, their website just lists
B737-400's and B737-800's

You posted the same picture twice.

Anyway, I know the planes are leased from WDL Aviation. They'll be used for some new routes from Moenchengladbach, which can't handle 737s. The routes will include Vienna and Zürich.

STN is also one of AB`s new destinations out of MGL.

MGL´s runway has 1200 metres - apparently AB want to gain a foothold there before the runway extension - maybe to battle FR at nearby LRC (Laarbruch)?

D-AMAJ, a -200 is 18 years old, D-ABWA, a -300 is 14 years old.

Other WDL 146s, of which I don´t know whether they´ll fly for AB or not include
D-AWDL, -100, 19 yo
D-AWUE, -200, 17 yo

I wonder whether AB will continue to constantly brag about their oh-so-young fleet  Laugh out loud

P.S.: I´ll fly MGL-STN on March 15.

Correct breakdown is:

BAe 146-200 based at MGL for flights to BGY, VIE, ZRH from March 1 (VIE from May 1; replaces the STN rotation) + a BGY - DTM - BGY rotation.
BAe 146-300 based at DTM for flights to VIE and STN from April 1.
BAe 146-200 based at PAD for flights from STN to PAD, FKB and MGL from May 1.

Lease contract is for 12 months initially.

I've booked an MGL-STN-DTM daytrip in late June just to get on one of those WDL 146's, so watch out for a trip report.  Smile
