I bet spotting is getting interesting at DAB this week.
Just looked at FlyteComm for DAB, looks like Pace has two 733s coming in, one from RDU, one from CLT, no surprise there, probably bringing marketing and promo people, could be a fan charter
Not sure how the number of bizjets comes in stacks up to usual.
Figure we have some forum members down there, maybe they could give us some info on what's coming in out of the ordinary for Speedweek.
Chepos, where are you, I bet you would be a great source for this?

For those interested, John Travolta is in town, and so is the V-Jet. The plane was hardstanded near gate 6. My roommate saw the aircraft land from the racetrack where he was volunteering.

Maybe he is a NASCAR fan... but he may just be at his home at the Spruce Creek fly- in community. I know he has a home there. Maybe he just felt like taking the 707 over instead of one of his other planes or driving down SR 40.

I believe Johnny T's the Grand Marshall for the 500...that explains his, and his plane's, presence.

Fsuwxman: SR-40 (Granada Blvd) ain't nowhere near Spruce Creek. Spruce Creek is on Taylor Road (aka Dunlawton Ave once you're East of I-95).
I've lived in Daytona a good while, and I know that much.
As for the V-Jet and the widebodies, we've had them both in the past couple of days. Just about every type of jet imaginable, military included - and the Rednecks, of course, leaving AL, MS and GA half empty, are all here.
FUN! I can't wait for these guys to get out of Daytona...! Traffic (flying included) will be hell until they do!

I know that SR 40 is nowhere near Spruce Creek, but JT has a residence up near Ocala so you would have to drive east on 40 to 95 South til you get to Dunlawton. I lived up there in that area for the first 18 years of my life, I know the area a little!!!

I believe those 727-100's belong to Rouche (spelling? You race fans tell me) Racing. They sit in CLT on the cargo side most of the time. I rarely see them fly, but mechanics are out babying them all the time.

The 727 for sure are owned by Jack Roush (owns Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch). He uses them to transport all his employees, VIP's and pit crews to the tracks.

JT has been spotted in our local mall here in Ocala, near where Ilive. Also in order to land at DAB,New Smyrna, Flagler, and a few of the other airports near the Speedway. You need a reservation to land and there are stringent departure procedures from those airports after the race and tomorrow as well.

Are those PACE 737-200s in the Hooter's Air colors yet?
Could be a good sponsor because across from the Speedway is a Hooters

No problem N863DA... Here is just some useless information I have picked up... JT's landing strip/ residence in Ocala is located right off SR 326 (the Ocala by-pass which will take you from SR 40 to US 441 to I-75. The code for this landing strip is 17FL. The runway is like 7500 ft.
