N707JT........V Jet For How Long?

I was CRUSHED today to see Travolta's 707 sitting at the FBO in ATL today. It looked GREAT and then left........before I could get any shots. I was wondering if anyone knows a) how long this 707 will wear the Qantas livery and b)where this a/c can be seen. It seems like it just shows up!!!!! You don't just hide a 707!!!!!!(I don't care if it is a -100!!!)

When it left ATL it was enroute to Dallas Love Field... I will be in Dallas this weekend at our HDQ's on Love. If it is still there, I will try and get some pics...

I thought the 707 would be painted in the old original Qantas livery for the duration of the 'Spirit of Friendship' tour (2 months, I think) but evidently not! There are only a few of these old workhorses still flying in the sky today, so it's an amazing sight.

When Travolta came to HKG during his tour, he landed his aircraft in neighboring Macau (the former Portuguese colony now part of China just west of Hong Kong) because the authorities here refused to give permission for his aircraft to land & instead he took a helicopter to Hong Kong. Why? It wasn’t really made clear but I think it was due to the strict noise-control regulations or some nonsense like that. Well whatever, it pissed off all us HK spotters!!

Saw his plane takeoff from DAB on Sunday, while I was in the stands watching the Daytona 500 race! It was around 3:30p, I believe. The race had just started back up after the first rain delay.

When I saw it yesterday at the Mercury Air Center @ ATL, I was like a kid at Christmas! I snapped off a few shots (I hope they'll turn out decently), and was happy to see this plane. I don't think John Travolta will ever repaint this jet, especially since it is now associated so much with him.

N707JT is indeed still here atDAL; just saw it a lunch time today, 02/19/03. It's got engine covers in, and cockpit sunscreens in place, and is parked over on the east side of the airport (off 13L/31R) in front of Associated Air Center.

Those of us in the Dallas area would like to know...

1. Is there anyone that can take us onto the ramp to get a shot before it leaves?

2. Does anyone know when it is going to leave?

I went over there during lunch today and tried to get permission from someone that worked at Associated Air Center to go out and get a picture of the plane. I was told that I could not get onto the ramp (escorted or not) to get a picture. It was a long shot but I had to ask.

I dont think JT will change the livery on the jet for as long as he has it. He may have some sort of deal with QF regarding this. Maybe payment for the 747 training he recieved? Has anybody heard anything further on him looking at buying a QF 747SP? Something along those lines was posted here a while back.

At the Singapore stop of the Friendship Tour, John Travolta confirmed that he did consider a B747-238 (but not the B747SP-38), but decided to stick to the good-old B707-138B.

What a great choice! N707JT is a classic beauty in the original V-Jet livery.
