Penerbangan Malaysia, the holding company for Malaysia Airlines, told that the airline has ordered six of the ultra large Airbus A 380-800. No firm decision has been made on the powerplant for the a/c, with the airline already operating a mixed fleet of General Electric, Pratt & Whitney and RollsRoyce powered aircraft.

Three planes will be delivered in 2007 and the other ones in 2008. The A380 will provide a solution to congestion at many of the airline's key destinations as well as support the forecasted traffic growth in the region and will replace Boeing B747-400 on routes to the UK, Europe and Australia.

So, another fight won by Airbus...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

regards. Florian

Old news. This order was announced about 2 months ago, and was discussed in detail on the forums back then:

Yup this is old news.

I wont really consider this a fight. With what product? No other rivalry product in the market for ULA (550 seater).

And this is perhaps more of a political decision than otherwise.

According to justplanes.com SAA is the next airline interested in the A380, maybe ordering 4 this year.
