Topic is as it says. After going through the airports most in need of a wrecking ball topic... it seems that anything built during the 60s or 70s has not weathered well. Terminals weren't designed with pax numbers that we see today in mind, nor with mega airline hubs in mind either. A lot of these monstrosities are just too small, with low rooflines, and dark interiors. Now are there any terminals built more than 15 yrs ago that can be called decent?
Here is what I am thinking of. Chicago's Terminal One... which is just barely old enough to fit under my criteria is certainly one that has held up well and should continue to serve without needing major modification. Atlanta's Hartsfield is another. Certainly not the most attractive of places, but extremely functional.
Care to add to the list?

Fresno (FAT) - Most of the complex dates from the 1960's except for Baggage Claim, Security, and the new concourse extension. The original sections have been remodeled and updated twice since construction. The original concourse section is narrow by today's standards but had skylights added during a remodel to add more light.

MSY's original terminal (late 50's, I believe '59) has been added on to ('74 with concourses A and B) and reconstructed (mid/late 90's with concourses C and D; DL/CO ticket lobby).
The eastern lobbies and concourses A and B have been showing their age for quite some time. They are all fairly dark, we refloored the concourses and the concession lobby some 10-odd years ago. Until the concourses can be reconstructed (which is in the design phase, but probably won't be done for awhile), we're having to put in new chillers (for water and HVAC), and we're constantly repairing window leaks, etc, etc.
If I had run this place years ago, (the locals will understand) I would have bought all property between I-10 and Airline Hwy, and Williams Blvd to the St. Charles Parish line, and set aside the north side of the airfield for future development. Too late for that now, so we're having to make due with what we've got.
9/11 intensified what was already coming with regards to funding of certain airport projects not only here, but nationwide. Numerous projects had to be put on hold, or even cancelled, due to an inability to obtain adequate funding. Some were completed, or will be completed; it's all about priorites, even more so these days.

Dublin Airport still uses the original art deco terminal from 1941. In the 1970s it was replaced by the then "new" terminal and used as office accommodation instead. As I'm not a regular Dublin vistor these days I'm not sure to what use its being put to now, but it's still standing.

Calgary Airport's old concourse D which had four gates and was the Westjet zone untill the new concourse D was built. Its still there just being remodeled. Also corcourse C and B weren't updated untill about last year.

My reasoning behind Hartsfield. While it did open in 1980 in the post dereg environment, mega hubs were not yet a reality... or heavily envisioned yet. But the design included a very large central landside structure and multiple midfield concourses that allowed for simple expansion... just add another concourse till you run out of room. I am not certain, but not all of the current concourses were present when the new terminal opened. For that the designers of Hartsfield had future proofed the terminal design. It is no wonder that the designers of the new Denver airport followed the same basic design.
Though other designs of that era... PHX's Terminal 3, and IAH's Terminal C are pretty limited. Both are relatively undersized for what they need to do and have a number of structural factors that limited their development... namely a small central terminal core that could not be expanded.
PHX's Terminal 2, despite being a 1962 design has held up pretty well. But it has also seen gradual expansion over the years. And it has benefitted from newer terminals being built. T-2 would not be a fun place for a hubbing airline.

The earlier post about Dallas Love Field was right... DAL's terminal (which opened in January 1958) is still soldiering on, and has seen only limited renovation over the years.
The original main lobby is still more or less in its original form, although the mezzanine observation deck was converted to offices in the late 1980s. Active gates are located on the west concourse (for Southwest, although before DFW opened these were used by AA) and on a short spur of the east concourse (used by Continental before the move to DFW, and now, interestingly enough, used by Continental Express.) Delta Connection also uses a small ground-level gate on the north concourse.
The rest of the building has been put to other uses. You can still walk along the ground level of the north concourse (at one point all of Love Field's concourse were at ground level, in 1968-1970 they were reprofiled to accommodate second level boarding). The upper level gates in the north concourse, once home to Delta, have been turned into offices for Southwest Airlines and the city of Dallas.
Braniff's former terminal (added on in 1968) has been subdivided into offices as well. American renovated a section of it for its long-haul flights in 2001, and was scheduled to begin operations there on September 11. The DAL flights were axed in the following days, permanently. A major portion of the Braniff terminal, including the famous rotunda concourse, was demolished in 2002.
DAL is really a fascinating terminal, given that only a third of it is used for commercial airline operations. I would love to see what it was like in 1973, the last full year it was completely open. Sadly, the red-and-green checkered exterior was removed in 1988 and replaced with the 'modern' silver steel that stands today.

Second that HlywdCatft- Gotta love the DTW-Smith Terminal; besides the lack of restaurants and everything else (really)... love the big lobby. But difficult to maintain proper climate. One day freezing, one day to hot.
I'm sure that place gave me the flu last week... its was so cold!

YYZ T1... truly wonderful little jewel of a terminal --Toronto's had better timing (luck too?) with their infrastructure designs meeting airport needs than Montreal has over the years-- and only recently has it been really outmoded. A 35+ year run.. pretty darn good, I'd say. And the T-New satellite terminal that'll be built in its place in about a year or so seems a fitting replacement for it.

How about the terminal at LongBeach? I don't have any info really on it.. just assumptions (like is it the original terminal built for the airport still? Or was it at some point rebuilt?)... hopefully another poster can post info on this terminal.

SVO 2! Built for the '80 Olympics and feels like built in '59. Still going strong though, as there is no money or political will to build another one. And since the inception of the new and refurbished DME it has seen its numbers go down. So fewer unlucky passengers will have to go through the prime Russian Hall of Shame, as I too often do.
