AA737-800 Out Of MCI.

I'd like to know why American Airlines flys two flights to MCI from ORD and back.Is this a temporary equipment change or is this the start of more service using the type.As I recall a good portion of MCI-ORD,ORD-MCI, used to be 727 routes and these may be the beginning of the replacement aircraft.Thanks.

737-800 heavy maintenance and the engine shop for the CFM's on the 738's is performed at the former TWA maintenance center in MCI. 738's are flown ORD-MCI to bring them in for maintenance instead of ferrying them in empty.
