Ok, we have the usual Air 2000, Ryan International, ATA, Transmeridian charters to warm destinations this time of the year, but there are a bunch of strange ones with Ryan International and Miami Air...

Miami Air

Lansing, MI Miami Air International 811 05:51 AM Arrived
Kansas City, MO Miami Air International 535 05:41 PM Arrived
Bozeman, MT Miami Air International 536 07:19 PM In Flight
Raleigh/Durham, NC Miami Air International 564 08:48 PM Planned
Montego Bay Miami Air International 815 12:35 AM Planned

Ryan International

Cozumel Ryan Intl Airlines 2364 02:16 AM Arrived
Acapulco Ryan Intl Airlines 110 02:35 AM Arrived
Flint, MI Ryan Intl Airlines 2364 10:07 AM Arrived
Cleveland, OH Ryan Intl Airlines 110 11:23 AM Arrived
Saint Louis, MO Ryan Intl Airlines 4001 12:03 PM Arrived
Punta Cana Ryan Intl Airlines 2176 10:07 PM In Flight
Punta Cana Ryan Intl Airlines 114 01:36 AM Planned

Ok the warm destinations make sense, but Lansing? Bozeman MT? St. Louis, Cleveland?

We are almost looking like a Miami Air and Ryan International mini hub.

Bozeman has Big Sky of Montana resort skiing. Lansing or Flint could be ferry flight or make one stop flight to somewhere else.

I can tell you the Flint Ryan Intl flight from DTW was just repositioning for its flight to Mexico. Flint has 1 or two weekly flights with A320's to Mexico.

HlywdCatft,
Do you have any details of the Air 2000 flights this winter out of DTW?
I'd be interested to know what destinations they are serving...

I believe these flights are being operated under Air 2000's own authority with AMM flight numbers, as opposed to being wet-leased to Ryan International as in the case of JMC's operations in the USA. Is that correct?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Regards
CROSSWIND

Well, I could give you what came into DTW today with Air 2000.

Cancun Air 2000 8865 01:03 PM Arrived
Montego Bay Air 2000 8867 12:25 AM In Flight

There was a 2nd Air 2000 flight earlier this morning from Cancun, but it isnt on Flytecomm.com now. It was on earlier today because there were three Air2000 flights which is the most I have seen in one day here. I saw one in Air 2000's colors the other day.

Last year Apple Vacations was flying 757s in the JMC colors with that apple on the tail. haven't seen any bright green 757s this year.

Well, I know that spring break is getting into full swing up here in LAN for MSU. My father tried to get a flight out of LAN to DTW on Friday.. no luck, every single seat was taken. My guess is that the Miami Air flight was a spring break charter, or a repositioning flight.

That makes perfect sense.

I been out of college for a few years now, I forgot about spring break charters getting big in March. Although I think my spring break would be next week though. Although some schools had early spring breaks like Eastern Mich would often have theirs the last week of Feb.

There were two 737-800 flights from ATA at DTW from LAS and I think Cancun.

The 757-300 flight I believe was from Aculpulco

I can tell you about the FNT and Cleveland flights with Ryan..

We had 2 flights coming back from int'l places, I think ACA and PVR.. on the 28th, at nite, really heavy fog developed, and neither was able to land.. One got diverted to FNT, the other ot CLE.. We are still feeling the delays, as our schedules are way screwed up..

I saw that miami air last nite when we got back to DTW.. Reg was N732MA .. the titles looked like MAM Air.. lol

Also, we (Ryan) had a flight come in from STL, a 727.. Departing to CUN right after we did yesterday.. Reg N281SC

FNT now has Ryan operating there too, with one A320, going to LAS and CUN..

I also saw the ATA 757-300 yesterday.. H U G E!!!

That's all I know now..

Also, just to clarify, the FNT and CLE were NOT repositioning.. The A320 tht got diverted to FNT had to abort landing @ DTW due to visibility, and went to FNT.. the other, A321, just landed at CLE.. I had to wait around DTW yesterday, as I was scheduled to go out on the A321 at 0530 yesterday, but didn't leave till after 1pm.. IT didn't get BACK to DTW till after 1130am yesterday..

What time was the Ryan Air flight supposed to land at DTW Saturday morning. I flew in on American flight #340 at 12:15am Saturday morning and it was foggy, but we landed in it. I also noticed we did circle around once somewhere south of the airport, but still nothing out of the ordinary. I couldn't imagine any flights getting in much later to DTW that night. Also the drive to the north of the city though Wayne and Oakland county was mostly misty never any dense fog. At least until 2am when I arrived home.

Yeah its big-time Spring break week in Michigan.
U of M was out last week, MSU and Eastern are out this week. Plus, a lot of school districts in Southeastern Michigan were out last week on their mid-winter break. Lots of charters for all this.

About the fog- I live in Utica, and my show @ DTW was 0400, and until I hit Merriman Road, there was nothing but a small patch on I-75... then all the sudden, the fog was so thick you could have packed it like a snowball and thrown it..

The flight that got diverted to FNT was due in from Cozumel at 12:15am, but was delayed in the first place, and could not land. The condidions were so bad they had to do an emergency ascent from about 200ft from the ground, as they could not see it..

The flight that got diverted to CLE was due in from Acapulco at 3:00am, circled for a bit, then finally got clearance to divert to CLE..

I talked to the Aero LLoyd Rep (Our A321 is leased from Aero LLoyd) and he told us that the planes (A320 and A321) CAN land without visibility, by computer, but none of our pilots are trained in those systems. Why, I dunno.. but that is what I know now..

As for my flight on saturday morning, well, we did not leave till after 1pm.. We are STILL reeling from this, as the planes, right now, are basically going NON-STOP to catch up.. I was ready reserve for the afternoon Cancun flight today, show at 3:25pm.. I got called, show was at 5:20pm.. then 7:30 pm.. I just got home a little while ago.. It's nuts right now..

Anyway, any questions, feel free to ask..

Chris
