Acapulco was what Cancun is now to Mexico during the 50s, 60s and 70s. LAX-ACA was known as the Sun route. There was considerable activity to Acapulco. Qantas had the fiesta route to Europe flown via ACA. APSA of Peru was flying LIM-ACA-LAX with their CV-880s and AeroMexico flew their DC-8s and DC-10s to New York from ACA. Mexicana was probably flying the route as well, there several pictures of Marilyn Monroe boarding Mexicana airplanes on of her frequent visits to the Mexican riviera.
