Kochi, Mar.3. (UNI): Sri Lankan Airlines today announced the launch of flights on the Colombo-Kochi route, commencing on April 22.
According to Airline Sales Manager in Kerala Asha Subramanian to begin with, three Airbus-A320 flights would be operated every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, on this route. While the flight would arrive here on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. and depart at 10:15 a.m., on Fridays it would arrive at 10:30 a.m. and depart at 11:50 a.m., she said.
The Airline already operates flights to Mumbai, New Delhi, Bodh Gaya, Bangalore, Chennai, Trichy and Thiruvananthapuram, she added.
Finally, we have confirmation of this. I think SriLankan will do quite well on this route, as there are huge numbers of Indians coming from Kerala for business and holiday purposes. Wonder when Shanghai will come online?

gr8 news there. Basically I think it would be a great idea if the authorities in India and Sri Lanka work together to develop tourism. There is enormous potential down India's west coast and of course Sri Lankan beaches.
I believe it would be a good idea if the BOM-GOI-COK-CMB circuit is developed. UL should seriously consider extending its CMB-COK flights onwards to GOI, thus allowing tourists to visit the entire circuit.

Good to hear and finally it comes. Also I like the idea of GOI. Good thinking.
Zizou, from what I heard for UL sources it is not going to be Shanghai, but Beijing. i.e 4 flights CMB-BKK-HKG and 3 flights CMB-BKK-PEK, with UL serving BKK daily. It is going to be October 2003 when they start this, mainly I think due to a/c availability.
