Along with this new annoucment of Song between ATL and JFK there was a word about adding service to LAX from ATL.
But how many total. If I remember right Delta already had about 8 flights a day on the route. What will they have now, something like 15 and can anyone fill me in on what the schdueles will be like?

I don't understand why they would operate this many flights between ATL and LAX when all the carriers are saying there is already too much capacity and that the yields are too low. Doesn't make sense to me. But then again, I'm not an airline CEO.

Delta is also upgrading one 757 flight to a 767-400. I can only imagine this is all being done in response to Jet Blue starting service to Atlanta. This is the only reason I can think of that makes sense. I haven't heard anything about a major increase on flights from ATL to SFO or to anywhere else out on the west coast.

In response to jetBlue or to Air Tran?
Makes sense--add capacity to drop fares and push them out of the market in which Delta has been well-entrenched.

Good news for the economic faring folks of the ATL/LAX/ATL market while it lasts. The lion is roaring, or was that an elephant? The aviation jungle can't lose another species. Good luck to all carriers.

ScottysAir, I don't understand your reference to me. I merely plugged in ATL/LAX on August 15, and found the flight numbers that I listed. I was answering the question asked, as well as providing a link for folks to check for more detailed information. No concrete reason why such schedules, but they are accepting passengers.
