Flights to Toulon and Murcia start in May
British Airways franchise operator, GB Airways, has announced two new routes from Gatwick this May.
Following recent developments in the aviation market in the UK, the airline has decided to start flying from Gatwick to Toulon-Hyeres, in southern France and Gatwick to Murcia, in Spain.
Toulon flights will start on the 1 May 2003, with five weekly flights increasing to a daily service in the peak summer months. Return flights will start at £89 including taxes, fees and charges.
Three weekly flights from Gatwick to Murcia will start on the 20 May 2003 with lead fares of ?139 return including taxes, fees and charges.
John Patterson, managing director GB Airways said: "In light of the changes in the networks operated by other UK airlines, we have managed to add these two new routes to our network very quickly, with flights going on sale from tomorrow afternoon (Thurs, 27 Feb). We would hope that many of the passengers who had intended to fly to these places will now take advantage of our low fares and that they can continue with their holiday plans."
He added: "We have been analysing these routes for a while with a view to starting them in the next couple of seasons, however we feel that now is the best time to start and we are confident that they will be a success."
All flights will offer a two class cabin, Club Europe and Euro Traveller with an inflight meal service, complimentary bar, minimum seat pitch of 31" and all the other benefits of flying with a full service airline. Connections from regional UK airports will also be available.

Good to see BA adding new destinations though operated by franchisees...
So this summer BA is adding:
Tashkent operated by BMED
Girona, Mahon, Toulon and Murcia operated by GB airways
Krakow operated by BA

OH MY GOD THIS IN INCREDIBLE YOU'VE MADE MY DAY THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!
Can it be true ?
BA will be the first non-low cost international carrier to land in Toulon !
I live in Toulon, and actually, since Air Lib went banckrupt and that Buzz dropped the Stansted-Toulon flight, this is very good news for my so-much-loved local airport !
I'm so happy ! Finally Toulon opens up to Europe...
Until those last years, international flights were forbidden at Toulon because LFTH is also an air force base.
Now, thanks to Buzz, things have changed, but when Ryanair anounced they would buy Buzz, Buzz left Toulon...
I'm still wonder why there so few airlines at TLN. Toulon is on the riviera, and most of the cities are very touristic: Hyères, St Tropez, etc...

AOMLover,
well it took this article from gbairways.com... so I would rather think it's true...
I checked Amadeus.net and during August, flights will run daily though the timings vary everyday... You'll get a mix of B733 and A320... The A321 is not planned for the route...

Cool !
The only airliners we see at TLN are usually AF's A320 and A319 flying to Orly, and Compagnie Regionale's EMB120 flying to Clermont Ferrand...
Since Air Lib left the airport, there are no MD83 any more...
I hope one day some German charter airlines will look into Toulon as a destination (the airport is only 80km far from St Tropez which is a quite famous destination for German people). TLN has many advantages, besides it's not overcrowded like NCE in summer, and flights can depart on time...
And the approach is wonderful, over the "presqu'île de Giens". It almost looks like St Maarten...lol

There will probably be a codesharing with IB soon...
It's strange, GT has been in and out of MJV at least three times...
Hope this service will last more than the previous times!
