"German airline Air Berlin said on Friday it was considering ordering at least 40 new planes from European jet maker Airbus or its U.S. rival Boeing this
year."
"We are thinking about a big order for the future -- either Airbus or Boeing," Joachim Hunold, managing partner of the Berlin-based airline, told reporters on the sidelines of a tourism industry show."
40 new planes ? Considering that they have 27 quite new B738, I doubt that they'll drop them. That would mean an expansion by more than 200% from their current fleet of 32 aircraft. Or could Air Berlin start long-haul service? I doubt it.

Well, I got a letter from Air Berlin today stating I needed a German ATPL in order to be able to work for them. Think it makes sense to do the conversion, with this massive expansion.

If DBA fails, there'll be lots of unemployed pilots with a B737 typerating...
Do you already a 737 typerating? Anyway, good luck for your further job chances.
