I think there is one that operates from Aspen to LAX each day in Winter. Don't know about others.

You most likely did.
You probably saw UA5678 takeoff indeed, as Petazulu said, for ASE. San Francisco has also been receiving a daily SFO-ASE flight with the BAe146, of which that will end in the beginning of April.
The BAe146's are operated by United Express/Air Wisconsin. In LAX they are ground-handled by SkyWest (both CS & Ramp), and in SFO they are ramped by SkyWest, but CS is done by United.

KLAX: Not that I know of. AWAC only has 10-odd 146's, and the biggest aircraft SBA sees now on a regular basis are AWAC, Mesa and SkyWest CRJ's. The 146's are mainly used on SFO/LAX/DEN-ASE and DEN-EGE flights, carrying affluent skiiers to their condos in the Rockies. The 146 is best suited for the high altitudes and short runways both airports have.

You have seen the 146 at SBA before, although I'm not sure about currently. They flew SBA-DEN.

SBA service stopped awhile ago... 2 years maybe. We currently have 18 aircraft. 5 of the -300s and 13 of the -200s.

DEN-SBA was originally operated 2x daily AWAC BAe 146s.
Now it's 4x CRJs operated by both AWAC and Skywest.
