According to 11/March/2003's Chongqing Evening News, Virgin Atlantic's Chinese mainland manager He Jinqiang has indicated that Virgin Atlantic is looking at a new direct service between London and Chongqing, one of well-developed cities in W. China. He said that the management hopes that this new service will finally be introduced into airline's schedule in two years time.
Until now, Virgin Atlantic has already done some preparations for the introduction of this service. Virgin Atlantic has set up its second Chinese mainland office in Chongqing (the first one is in Shanghai). In meantime, Mr. He also acknowledged that if this service starts-up, the key group of passengers would be Chinese students whore studying in England. However, as more economical activities come over to Chongqing recently and presumably in the future as well, there are likely to be some business travelers who will be using this service too.
