Jcxp15 asked a question in another thread. I thought it was worth its own topic.

http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1043597/

Yes, Jcxp15, there was a 727 there the other day. It was a Northwest.

It seems that a NW727 has been coming to LGA REGULARLY. So much to the point where I doubt that it's a sports charter, since it's happening so much.

They come in and leave only a few houts later, like any other aircraft turnaround.

There have been a few conversations about 727s at LGA the past few weeks, and it jsut seems like to much of a coincidence for sports charters all from NW, all 727s, to suddenly come in SO MUCH in this recent burst.

Anyone have any idea of whether they are using 727s in a regular flight schedule now? If so, from where? We need a schedule.

I don't see where in that data that is hints at it being a sports charter.

It's not a big deal for a plane to fly to a different city than the one it arrived from.

Any NW flight with a 9 infront of the flight # is a charter of some type.

NW temporarily placed some of its “retired” B727 into service last month, but those aircraft have since been removed from the schedule. I just did a quick search, but I don’t see where any B727 served LGA within the past two weeks.

I've seen NW727s with my own eyes last week on Wednesday, and Jcxp15 thought he saw one on Saturday, which I thought I saw from far away as well.

Before that, there were several more sightings. You cna even look for posts on here about it.

Well the Big East Tournament has been going on in New York, maybe a lot of the Big East teams have been flying into LGA on chartered NW 727s for that.

Bigphilnyc,

I should clairfy: NW will be operating six B727 aircraft via May to complete their charter contracts. Chartered B727 aircraft were probably flown into LGA, but I don't see any scheduled passenger within the past two weeks.

There are no more regular scheduled 727 flights, they have 6 727's for sports charters, that's it. Like what was posted in this post earlier, any NWA flight that starts with "9", is a charter or ferry flight.

Hammer,

NW quietly "unretired" a couple B727 for scheduled passenger service last month; apparently, NW’s schedule was tight (after the retirement of the B727) and couldn’t absorb the temporary loss of the two aircraft at LGA (A319 and B752).

it was 1 727-200 #2296---it flew 2 days between msp/dtw only last month--now it is assigned to the nba charters which makes 7 total 727's left--NONE will see pax service again----have a nice day--

Favre-
#2299 (not NBA configured) is used as a spare for the six NBA charter 727's, so it was probably the one used last month. It was also kept to cover the flt deck door mods that are taking place on 2702, 2707-10.

Yea, if Phil saw the 727, then I definately saw it too, cause it appeared to be NWA (thought it might have been Trump, but there was no black fuselage), just what Phil is describing.. Maybe it is the NCAA charters...

Are NWAs 727s now configured in an all first class system?

Also, as a side note, at least one of the two NW planes involved in that "incident" a few weeks ago, are still sitting the the hangars.

I think it's the 757, but it's tough to tell from as far away as I am when I am able to see it, and I am also looking at it through the sight-altering hangar doors.

I guess this may explain why I saw an NW727 @ YYZ about 6 weeks ago too then, although it was in a fairly remote location, it was still hooked up to a passenger jetway. Honest I swear I wasn't seeing things  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
