"Qantas Business Skybed"

Qantas has started advertising the new J class seat as the "Qantas Business Skybed" sounds pretty boring, i liked Silverchair & CocoonSuite.

"Our new business Skybed guves you total flexibility to work, sleep or relax. The seat will be progressively introduced from September 2003 on our 747-400 fleet, initially available on Hong Kong & London routes. We look forward to seeing you comfortably on board. The Spirit of Australia."

Full Page advert in the March 18 Australian Bulletin.

There is also 7 page business flyer section in this editioin with 2 pages dedicated to the new Skybed with some good pics.

btw. The seats dont look sthe same colour as they did on the website they are a maroony grey colour. Looks quite good.

Just been reading the article. The article on the skybed itself is not as big as you maintain. It is only 2 pages. But the photos are fantastic, except for the anatomy of the skychair. The features that they describe, are NOT where the are actually on the diagram. eg. It says that the Monitor is in the seat arm rest, where it actually is in the seat in front of you. Same with the foot locker. Other than that it is a good article. And you can read the article at the bulletin website. Without the pictures (well I am yet to find them on their website) http://www.ninemsn.com.au/bulletin
And yes, it looks Dazziling!! It is so much better than the CX, SQ or BA product!! The SQ and CX ones aren't too bad. But I think the BA product is nowhere near the quality of the other airlines that have beds.
The ad it has in it isn't too shabby either Smile

I agree it looks fantastic. Shame we have to wait another 6 months though. It was originally going go debut in July. Looks like they have put it back a few months due to the Iraq situation.

I only said the "Qantas Business Skybed" section was two pages, the business flyer section talking about Frequent Flyers & Cheap J seating and the QF bed is 7 pages long. The picture was right the number was placed on the phone/remote control. Personally I like the look of JL shell seat better but the QF seat does look & sound great.

Looking at the pictures, I think I prefer the elegance of the CX seats compared to the QF design... but it will be interesting to see how QF shapes up comfort-wise!

QF are offering a slick product. Shame I will miss out on the new seats when travelling SYD/LAX next month, but I am sure the *dreamtime* will be sufficient.

If QF ramp up the service and the decent food offerings I can see them stealing biz pax all over the place.

Already people are saying the new QF *Y* product is streets ahead of the competitors and thats average joe blows rather than your *plane geeks* comparing how many ptv channels an airline has.

If QF can get the service stakes on a roll, and provide people with award winning Aussie cuisine in all classes the white rat is on a winner. Remember that Australian food and wine is the envy of the world and I dare anyone to question me on that one.

Geoffy needs a pat on the back!
