Hi ! It does feel a bit strange at first when you enter the cabin but when you sit down you don't notice it as much. It worked out well for me; sat on the two seat side with nobody next to me between BKK and MNL. MNL-NRT the flight was almost full so had a person next me then.

I think 3-4-2 is the best answer to a "2-5-2 or 3-3-3" question. As well as to "2-4-2 or 2-5-2/3-3-3" one. If three people (a family, ...) want sit together near the window, they can't do so in 2-4-2 or 2-5-2 but it is apparently not necessary to have 3 seats near windows on both sides. As for "off-balance feeling" - no more (actually, even less) than in DC9/MD80 or F100 or Il18...

Yes that's egyptair's 777. No flight entertainment though if any body noticed. But I like the configuration. It would suit different types of couple like the "just married" couple can get the two seats,"just married with their first child" can use the three seats and a family of four would use the four seat in the middle

I totally loathe 3-3-3 seating on the few occassions when I was on economy class in a B777 of SQ. Even though the flight was not very long, I still didnt like the idea of having 2 ppl next to you (assuming you are on window seat) when that you need to get past 2 ppl should u want to leave ur seat.
2-5-2 is acceptable as then I can go on the 2 side, ppl in the middle may not be that pleased but overall it is fine.
2-4-2 on Airbus widebodies are perfect 9 abreast layouts. While I wouldn't mind a 3-4-2 on a B777.
