Thanks for this news Scotty. Hopefully everyone will start to add flights back. I don't think there is any danger for anyone flying in to Tel Aviv. Hopefully the conflict will be over soon.

They never suspended Israel, they just made a tech stop in Cyprus, which added about an hour flight time.

The tech stop would have significantly increased operating costs for this route. Must be a money-maker.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

"Since the war in Iraq broke out, Air Canada flights to Israel have landed in Larnaca, Cyprus, where the crews were replaced, and the pilots and flight attendants housed in local hotels."

Replaced by whom? How long is the flight btwn Larnaca and Tel Aviv? Would the "replacements" fly back from Tel Aviv to Larnaca and be replaced by the original AirCan crew?

The stop in Larnaca, Cyprus was there for the safety of the crew. That way, crews didn't have to stay overnight in Israel. That's what I've heard as the reason for AC stopping there.

Hey Tony, the flight from Larnaca to Tel Aviv is only around a half hour or so.

As said above, this was done only so AC crews didn't have to overnight in TLV.

Think before you type!

Makes sense. So they won't be making that stop at all now? I wouldn't want to stay overnight in TLV if I were a crewmember..
