Hi, I am pretty sure this has been posted before but an extensive search didnt return any matches, so heres my question again:
LH is taking delivery of its first A340-600s before the end of the year (right?). Which destinations will they serve first? I heard something about SIN being one of the first destinations, is that right? I'd love to fly on one of these beauties asap!

Wasn´t SFO on the list of supposed destinations as well? If I remember correctly LH tested the A346 on the FRA-SFO route a few months ago.
By the way and sorry if it´s a bit off topic, does anyone know where LH´s A330´s will be flying to in the summer? I was not able to find anything about those destinations on the LH website.

don´t know if that´s up-to-date, but YVR and MIA where once mentioned as possible A346 destinations. i´d say MIA probably only in winter, but i don´t know.
last week, i had a lengthy conversation with an LH A340 cpt. and he told me that the FRA-BKK-SGN could probably be among the first ones to get A346 service. he also mentioned that EZE could end up receiving A340s. although he wasn´t specific on that one, i´m pretty sure they wouldn´t send -300s to EZE as those birds have already a hard time fighting their way nonstop to GRU with a full-load.
i´d also say JFK is a good bet, as is BOS. both are destinations which either receive or were supposed to receive continuous 2-class service (op´d by LH´s leased 332s) throughout the summer and since the A340-600s will only offer Biz and Eco as well, go figure...
cheers

So they have ordered them but arent sure where to fly them? Theres no word about an A346 to any of those destinations on Galileo. I'm so keen on LH's new Economy Class on this bird.

Hi StarFlyer,
Can you give some more info about their new economy class please? What's the difference? And are they going to introduce the new Y class also on all their other aircrafts, + on short and medium haul?

Hi Sabena 690,
sorry, all I know about the new economy class are the rumours posted on here... you know, the ones with PTVs in Y class! I know nothing more than you! And if I did, I'd definitely post it here!
Doubt we`ll see a short+medium upgrade for a while. There isnt that much wrong with the product anyway. I always find short haul quite pleasant atually, even though in Biz, you get the same seats...

i don´t think there are PTVs in Eco in store, and i don´t know about an economy upgrade at all. it´s been rumored, but i think it´s only about a new business class on longhaul flights.
and from what i know, there are no LH A346s already loaded in any CRS because LH has not yet come up with any seatmaps and released specific configurations.

Maybe they will fly to DTW- every once in while they substitute the A343 for a 744 there.

If the LH A340-600's will be configured as two-class planes they might not fly to SFO after all. Given the large number of premium passengers in and out of SFO LH will probably stick to the 747-400 and A340-300, both of which have First class seating. It's more likely that LH will fly the A380-800 to SFO from FRA starting in 2007, though.

Relax people, speculation is over. I just spoke to at least three LH captains over the weekend (the stay at the hotel where I work in YVR), and its pretty much a given that they will be deploying the 346 to YVR & MIA. These two destinations out of FRA are the last 742 routes they have, with MIA served in the winter months (OCT-MAR), and YVR during the summer months (MAR-OCT). So for all you people out there, enough of this "I heard, I thought, I think" because they're all wishful thinking!
