First posted this on the Airbus Group but couldn't get anyone to confirm its correct. Now might be a good time to review the A340-500/600 order situation, ignoring deliveries.

A340-500 Orders:

Emirates: 6
Singapore Airlines: 5
Qatar Government: 2
Thai: 3

A340-600 Orders:

Virgin Atlantic: 10
Lufthansa: 10
China Eastern: 5
Cathay Pacific: 3 (from ILFC)
South African: 9
Iberia: 5
Thai: 5

Deferred:

Air Canada: 3 A340-500 (highly likely)
Air Canada: 2 A340-600 (highly likely)

Cancelled:

Swissair: 11 A340-600
Egyptair: 2 A340-600
Aerolineas Argentinas: 6 A340-600 (what is the status of that order??)
ILFC: 1 A340-500

Emirates: Expired LOI for 8 A340-600.
Khalifa: Expired LOI for 3 A340-500

Any mistakes?

Jeremiah

Iberia in fact has 8 A340-600s on order: 5 ordered directly from Airbus, 3 leased in a previous deal (were originally destined for Swissair). They are expected to lease an additional 4 machines from ILFC.

Read here recently that Aerolineas Argentinas will take at least 4 of the 6 -600s on order.

According to Flight International, Emirates is expected to order a few additional -500s and at least 10 -600s at the Paris Air show.

Qatar Airways also heavily rumored to go for the -500.

The following pic suggests the AC 345 will not be deferred. It's still sked to commence YYZ-NRT June 1st. This could quickly change of course.

Yyz717,

Amadeus displays the following from June 1st:

Air Canada AC 001 Pearson Int'l (YYZ), Toronto, ON, Canada 13:05 Narita (NRT), Tokyo, Japan 15:30 + 1 day(s) Non-stop 343 13h25min N/A Yes Yes

The All Nippon Airways Number is still showing 345 however I presume it is simply that it has yet to be updated.

The A345's of AC are due to go to Hong Kong, however the SARS could put an end to that!

N754pr,

Definitely no AC A345s to HKG anywhere in Amadeus at this time.

Ya...I can't find the AC 345 anywhere in the summer sked. It has been removed from YYZ-NRT also.

Guess it's going to Mojave.......

Unfortunately, I don't have my spreadsheets with me at the moment. However, from memory, the breakdown is as follows:

A340-500
Emirates: 6
Singapore: 5
I.L.F.C.: 3
Air Canada: 2
Qatar Amiri: 1
Total: 18

A340-600
Virgin Atlantic: 10
Lufthansa: 10
I.L.F.C.: 8 (3 to Cathay, 3 to South African)
Iberia: 8 (3 ex-Swissair)
Aerolineas Argentinas: 6
South African: 6 (ex-Swissair)
China Eastern: 5
Air Canada: 3
Total: 56

LOI: Thai - 3 -500, 5 -600

Cancelled so far:
Swissair: 9 -600 (the other two were to be leased)
Egyptair: 2 -600
I.L.F.C.: 1 -500

I believe that is complete.

Regards,

If ILFC canceled 1 -500, then ILFC should have 4 -500s on order which would give you a total of 18 -500s. You have only 17 in your -500 list.

My apologies.

You're quite right, ILFC have 4 A340-500s on order, not 3. I mistakenly took their current order (not their old order), and subtracted one for the cancellation.

Sorry.

So, in clarification, the flagship for Swiss Air is, and still will be, the A340-300?

I heard from a local Aerolineas employee that they are planning to confrirm up to 4 A346 during the course of this year, as well as to incorporate about 4/5 Boeing 737-300's. This in order to retire some 747's and keep the rest for Miami, and to save on costs, etc., even though leases will be higher... We'll just have to wait some more time.... I'd surely love to get A346's at my home airport!!!!!!!!!!!
