Can anybody tell me anything about German Western Airlines?

I heard that they are a new Airline in Germany which wants to start operation in the 3Q03 with Fokker 100 Service in a 2 Class (First Class and Main Cabin Layout). I also heard that they want to fly to London/Manston Airport from Germany.

Which cities do they want to serve?
What`s their Homebase (I just have a address in Berlin and Hamburg)?
Where did they order the planes?

More infos???

German Western Airlines was intending to start services from an Eastern German Airport (Parchim) to varoious German, Italian, Scandinavian and British airports. Among the candidates were BVA, BGY, MUC and the Scandinavian capitals.

It was planned to dry- or wetlease 4 B717, with ticket distribution by internet and call centers.

The last I have heard in December 2002 was that the founders are searching for additional investors.

IMO, this is just another paper airline or - even worse - a hoax.

I heart that German Western Airlines (GWA?) will launch a new web page soon!? They are now talking about the launch of a twice daily flight from Schwerin/Parchim (SZW) to Munich and Daily Flights to London/Manston and Copenhagen/Kastrup beginning of October 2003 with Fokker 50 Aircraft. They want to replace them with Jet Aircrafts within the year 2004 adding one destination each month? Any other rumors?????

I spoke with the acting manger of German Western Airlines that they are in talk with a Scandinavian Airline to Wetlease a single Fokker50 for six month, then they want to put (several) Fokker 100 in replacement and in addition to open flights throughout Europe from 2 or the German bases. The Boeing 717 plans are postponed right now as they tried to get some ex TWA B-717. The new B-717 are quite to expensive for a start up carrier. But they still plan to buy B-717 once the airline makes money. Rumors say they they are already in talkes with Boeing regarding the B-717-200 as well as the Boeing B-717-300 (!!!!). Maybe they will be the European Launch customer for that fine Boeing Product.

Keep you updated as I will meet Mr. Willsch (Acting Manager of German Western next week)

Bill

Well, I wish them the very best, it is always nice to have new airlines - although IMO this is going to be another BerlinJet.

Delta777jet: would be nice to hear more news about them, when they are available.
Perhaps they can take the 3 717 which Hawaiian seems to have returned to Boeing.....
