How Come No Flights From BHX To A London Airport?

Hi,

Well I would like to know why there are no flights from BHX to any London airport. I think it would be a great opportunity for a low cost carrier e.g. Easyjet etc to fly this route.

Your opinions please...

Regards

Around 1995 there used to be a BHX-EMA-LGW service operated by Community Express and aboard a SH6.

Other operators in the past have been Brymon to Gatwick with a Twin Otter and BMA with a DHC7 to Heathrow. These were all before the days of the M40 which as mentioned is now only 1.5 hours by road so not really worth it.

Living in Brighton - I would cherish the availability of an LGW-BHX service!!! Its certainly not an hour and a half in the car from here!

I really wish there was a service to any London airport. It would be so much easier and cheaper than going by train and car!

A real shame!  Sad

London to Birmingham is simply too close to warrant a flight. BA thought about a LHR-BHX flight, but to use any plane on that route, even a J31/41 would be uneconomical. Flight time would be less than 20 minutes.

It can be a pain in the ass to drive from the midlands to London, but you have to make do with those giant car parks, M1/M25. Big grin
